The cottage is just out of this world, absolutely perfect for a large group. The location is just amazing,so beautiful. Incredible walks from the doorstep. Huge space,so clean, lovely touches, there are so many items included which Esther has gone the extra mile to provide. Great hostess communication. I highly recommend to stay here. We will be back.
This house is out of this world! The views are amazing, the house is immaculate and very well equipped making it the most amazing stay. The studio space was perfect for our group activity and we were able to use it to do yoga very comfortably for 12 people. It’s exceptional value and we only left this morning and are already planning our next trip! Thank you Esther, everything was beautiful:)
We had an amazing time at Thirklelow Cottage. The location was great and the place was set up perfectly with plenty of entertainment for the kids. Highly recommended!
It was dreamy to spend our time at this lovely cottage. It's placed right next to a lovely public footpath and we saw a couple of hikers as well as cows and sheep during our stay (Don't worry, the cottage is well insulated that people can't really see inside from the outside.) We were greeted by sheep when first got there too! The view was so spectacular that every sight from each window was like a piece of beautiful paintings. All the bedrooms & bathrooms were spotless and it smelled nice. The fridge/freezer was huge enough to keep 3 nights worth of food and drinks for 9 people. The place was just so perfect that we couldn't have asked for more.
Thirkelow cottage was perfect for our gathering. The building itself exceeded our expectations and was so well arranged for a family with wide age range. Meals for twelve were easily catered for and the young children could amuse themselves in the studio while adults lingered around the table. The setting is heavenly and we could not get enough of the peace, the views, the walks and cycle rides. Scrambling around the rocky hillside behind the house was a particularly favourite occupation for the children, especially when the Easter bunny had deposited so many eggs there! and there was ample grassy space for ball games etc. The proximity of Buxton was convenient for bits of shopping yet the cottage is so well tucked away that we were unaware of being so close to a town. In our many years of renting properties Thirkelow stands out as the best for a family gathering. We are so grateful for the thought you put into developing this property and greatly appreciated the results. We are already looking forward to another visit.
Esther is amazing and was on hand to answer all of the questions I had prior to booking and leading up to our weekend at Thirkelow cottage. We were a group of 11 for a hen party and Esther was so thoughtful by having ice, milk, tea, coffee and some treats ready for our arrival. We also used the hall which was a fantastic asset and worked well for our afternoon craft activity and evening drinks. Esther also let us hire in a hot tub which was the icing on the cake so we could enjoy the fabulous views! We got out and about on the Saturday and did some exploring - some took the 12 minute journey to Buxton, others drove to the Speedway or had a walk around the local area which shows the location is remote but close to amenities. The cottage is new and finished to a very high standard with each room being en-suite which was perfect for our needs. It was spotlessly clean and the beds were super comfy. The Bride to Be was so overwhelmed at how fantastic the place was and that just made the whole experience perfect. I cannot praise Esther and Thirkelow Cottage enough and need to go back soon! Thank you so much for having us :)
Great space for families with small children, lots of games and toys which was a bonus. The extra room is a must and a good party space too. There are walks directly from the house which is handy. Esther was incredibly attentive and looked after all our needs. Brilliant place!
We had a fantastic short break at Thirkelow between Christmas and New Year, and couldn't have stayed in a better place. The standard of the accommodation is superb .... and everything about our holiday was exceptional. We loved the location of the cottage, including it's proximity to Buxton - had a great lunch in Esther's recommendation of the Cafe at the Green Pavilion. On our arrival at the cottage, we were welcomed with treats suitable for every member of our party, .... and everyone is keen to go back and stay at Thirkelow again.
This is a wonderful home finished to the highest standard providing everything that could possibly be required for the perfect stay. Situated in a wonderful location with great views and access for amazing walks. The home was beautifully clean exceptionally well equipped and lovely and warm the perfect retreat after a day of strenuous exercise. Esther is a wonderful host with nothing being to much trouble we will certainly be revisiting.
Gorgeous house, gorgeous location. The facilities were excellent and the house was well-stocked with toys and games for kids. We stayed over at Christmas and the house was beautifully decorated (two Christmas trees!)
Stunning views, immaculate accommodation and very helpful host. Esther had very kindly supplied some food bits which was a godsend while we waited for the shopping to arrive. We were a group of 13 and had plenty of space to play, read, do homework, watch films and generally have fun. The accommodation had absolutely everything we needed and was very well stocked. We would highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in that part of the country.
The cottage was in a magnificent setting with beautiful views. It was sparkling clean (the cleanest accommodation we've ever stayed in) and had every possible last little touch to make our stay easy and enjoyable. The furnishings, crockery and cutlery were much higher quality than I've experienced in other accommodation and the kitchen was well equipped with every utensil we could need. Esther was friendly, welcoming and accommodating and went out of her way to meet our needs even when this was inconvenient fer her.
