At Thirkelow we will be offering a range of courses and craft retreats throughout the year from traditional crafts to countryside stewardship. With accommodation on site in en-suite rooms and a warm, light studio space to work in, our venue offers the perfect environment to learn new skills and meet new people, or spend time with old friends working on shared interests. With space to spread out and create, just steps away from our cosy rooms and well equipped kitchen you'll be able to focus some quality time on your chosen course or retreat.

Courses and retreats can be booked with or without accommodation depending on availability and we can recommend alternative accommodation in the area if you prefer to stay offsite. Non-participating partners can be accommodated where space is available and we can provide them with information about local attractions and goings on.

Sewing retreat dates have now been released for 2022, from £225 per person including meals. An additional night of accommodation is available before each date from as little as £25. Please Contact us for pricing and availability or scroll down the page for more information.

We aim to provide a wide range of learning options. If you are interested in a particular course or retreat then let us know and we'll see what we can find for you. We are also happy to accommodate teachers looking for a space to bring their own students and craft or friendship groups wanting to use our studio to organise their own retreats.

This is a wonderful house in an amazing location and far exceeds any other air Bnb we have stayed in. We stopped with our children and their families for a long weekend, which included 4 little ones 2 being babies. The layout of the cottage was perfect. The facilities and equipment in the house far exceeded our expectations. Communication with Esther was flawless. We will definitely book again as we have nothing negative (apart from our stay was too short) to say about this cottage. Thank you Esther you made our stay memorable

Great house in a wonderful location. Plenty of space for 12, beautiful views and a great walk right from the doorstep to Chrome Hill. Lovely to have so many bathrooms and such great shared living space. We also rented a hot tub which was worth every penny. Esther was always responsive and kind, even helping with plasters when we had a cooking injury!

We couldn’t imagine a better place to stay - the beds are so comfy, the bedrooms so quiet, the kitchen and dining room so convivial, the big room is so spacious yet still warm and cosy, and the snug is perfect and our son loved the toys and books. Thirkelow is a beautiful, tranquil place to stay. It is hidden away from the crowds yet so handy for exploring the area. Super for families as it has separate ends of the house with their own stairs. It has a super large family room too. It was spotlessly COVID clean!

We stayed at Thirkelow Cottage with our extended family over Christmas and had the most amazing stay. The views are incredible and the house was perfect for the 11 adults and kids with plenty of room, lots of games for the kids to enjoy and the kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils and pans we needed to make an amazing Christmas dinner. Esther was an amazing host and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend this Airbnb. It was perfect in every way.

We had an amazing stay at Thirkelow Cottage with friends. The communication from Esther from start to finish was excellent. The cottage is extremely well equipped with everything you need and the open plan space was ideal for our large group. The views are amazing and there are fantastic walks too. Great space for families with small children, lots of games and toys which was a bonus. The extra room is a must and a good party space too. There are walks directly from the house which is handy. Esther was incredibly attentive and looked after all our needs. Brilliant place!

The cottage was in a magnificent setting with beautiful views. It was sparkling clean (the cleanest accommodation we've ever stayed in) and had every possible last little touch to make our stay easy and enjoyable. The furnishings, crockery and cutlery were much higher quality than I've experienced in other accommodation and the kitchen was well equipped with every utensil we could need. Esther was friendly, welcoming and accommodating and went out of her way to meet our needs even when this was inconvenient fer her.
